Sara Guest

Examining the Informal, social and political networks utilised by international students to tackle food insecurity in the context of the neoliberal university in Victoria

Project Description

Sara’s research explores the lives of university students in Melbourne amid the cost-of-living crisis with a specific focus on food and inequality. Her work examines how students navigate food insecurity whilst juggling the demands of education, other responsibilities such as paid work, and relationships such as family and friendships. Sara is interested in connecting these experiences of food insecurity to the way that higher education continues to recreate the inequalities it claims to redress such as those related to social class, mobility and equality of opportunity.
