Claire Sullivan

Syrian refugees adoptions, adaptions and rejections of legal responses to experiences of family violence and SGBV

Project Description

Claire’s PhD research explores how migrant and refugee women experience legal institutions and interventions following family violence, as well as the impacts of legal responses on their lives. Her project considers the interactions between the family violence legal system, immigration law, family law and child protection. Taking place in the pandemic, Claire’s research also explores how the legal system is meeting the needs of migrant and refugee women during COVID, with the emerging use of online courtrooms and support systems.
