Migration, Refugees and Statelessness Interdisciplinary Conference 2022
On Friday 18 November 2022 the Melbourne Social Equity Institute will host a one-day conference exploring migration, refugee studies and statelessness.
This event builds on the tradition of the Researchers for Asylum Seekers Conference which ran at the University of Melbourne for over a decade. It provides an opportunity for graduate and early career researchers, as well as practitioners and policy makers working in the field, to present their work, meet with other researchers and to discuss their research with an engaged, interdisciplinary audience.
Call for Papers
This conference is intended to accommodate graduate and early career researchers, as well as practitioners and policy makers working in the field.
Submissions from all disciplinary backgrounds are welcome, as are papers reporting on work in progress.
Three different formats will be in operation at this year’s conference:
- 15-minute oral presentation in person (+ 5 minutes of question time)
- 5-minute oral presentation in person (+ 5 minutes of question time)
This option should provide a quick snapshot of your work or research still in the early stages of a project. - 15-minute oral presentation online (+ a 30-second trailer)
Pre-recorded presentations will be uploaded to the conference website and the 30-second recorded trailer introducing your work will be played during the conference.
Please note that presentation lengths may be limited by the organisers depending on the time available.
Abstract submissions of 150-200 words (accompanied by a brief biography of up to 50 words) are requested by 12pm AEST on Monday 19 September 2022.

This is a free conference and everyone is welcome to attend. A light lunch will be provided at no cost.
