The Black and African Experience: Cross-Cultural Conversations

Presented with the African Studies Group, this event features three visiting academics from Wellesley College (USA):

• Dr Chipo Dendere is a Zimbabwean-born American academic whose research focuses on democratisation, elections, and voting behaviour in Africa, as well as the influence of social media on politics
• Dr Kellie Carter Jackson, Chair of the Africana Studies Department at Wellesley College and the award winning author of We Refuse: A Forceful History of Black Resistance
• Dr Ama Baafra Abeberese who primarily works in the area of industrial development, with a focus on identifying and analysing constraints faced by firms in developing economies

Join us for this expansive conversation on race, politics, culture and economic development in Africa and its diaspora moderated by Dr Franka Vaughan (Research Fellow, Nossal Institute for Global Health).

Guests are invited to share a meal together after the event at 8pm, catered by Taste of Senegal.
