Anti-Racism Conference at the University of Melbourne 2026

The University of Melbourne Anti-Racism Hallmark Research Initiative, Western Sydney University Challenging Racism Project and Melbourne Social Equity Institute are holding a cross-disciplinary one-day conference on Thursday 12 November 2026 at the University of Melbourne's Parkville campus.
This event will bring together researchers, practitioners and policymakers who are undertaking work related to anti-racism. This will be an opportunity for us all to learn more about each other’s work, build networks, and explore the potential for future collaborations.
The conference will be free to attend and in-person only. Registrations to attend are expected to open in October.
Conference Convenors: Professor Karen Farquharson, Professor Karen Block and Professor Nida Denson
Call for Papers
We invite submission of abstracts focused on anti-racism research and practice. Anti-racism aims to confront and eradicate racism through action, and papers detailing anti-racism will be prioritised over those which solely focus on racism.
Presentations will be 10-minutes followed by 5 minutes question time.
Abstracts of up to 250 words, accompanied by a brief biography of up to 50 words, are requested by 5.00pm AEST on Friday 31 July 2026.
