Is ending statelessness enough? A critical analysis of current approaches to addressing statelessness

Project Description

This thesis proposes the use of Constructivist Grounded Theory (CGT) to develop a more nuanced and empirically grounded understanding of statelessness. A growing number of stateless activists have begun to ‘trouble’ the core assumptions that underpin both the international legal regime on statelessness and advocacy efforts. Hannah has proposed a methodological approach that moves away from existing theories and assumptions regarding what statelessness is and how it is experienced. She believes that CGT will provide scope for new and diverse perspectives of statelessness to be developed, upon which advocacy efforts or future theoretical developments may be built.
