Melbourne Social Equity Institute's Community Fellows Program has been named a finalist in Engagement Australia's 2023 Excellence Awards in the category for Excellence in Community Engagement.

These Awards identify and celebrate the most exciting engagement activities undertaken by universities that demonstrate far-reaching impact and innovation in the Australian and New Zealand economy and community.

Charlene Edwards, Melbourne Social Equity Institute's Executive Officer and Community Fellows Program Director, said "We are delighted that the Community Fellows Program has been recognised for making a valued contribution to societal benefit. Through democratising access to the academy, the knowledge, practice and lived expertise of the Fellow is strengthened through academic mentoring and the acquisition of research skills. We are proud to have supported the achievements of past and current Fellows, who are endeavouring to make their communities fairer and more equitable."

If you are interested in learning more about supporting the Community Fellows Program and  our plans to develop and expand its impact,  please read the Case for Support or contact Charlene Edwards.

The other finalists in the Excellence in Community Engagement category are Monash University's BioEYES project, a hands-on science experience for primary and secondary school students, and  La Trobe University's Albury-Wodonga and Bradford Shepparton Pathways program which focuses on reducing equity and attainment gaps in tertiary education in regional Victoria.

Congratulations to all of the finalists, including the six other finalists from the University of Melbourne listed in other categories.

The winners of the 2023 Engagement Australia Excellence Awards will be announced on Tuesday 21 November.
