This seminar is presented by the Melbourne Research Alliance To End Violence Against Women And Their Children (MAEVe)

At the second MAEVe seminar for 2019, Associate Professor Kylie Smith from the Youth Research Centre at the University of Melbourne and Sophie Gale from the City of Melbourne will be discussing respectful relationships in the pre-school years.

Literature shows that gender-based violence prevention policies and programs are being implemented nationally and internationally within primary and secondary school settings, but programs for early childhood services are only beginning to emerge. This presentation will showcase the Building Children’s Resilience through Respectful and Equitable Relationships Pilot Project which took place at a City of Melbourne run children’s centre in 2017.

This pilot explored ways to co-design, implement and evaluate a whole of service prevention of violence against women program in an early childhood setting. This project was a collaboration between the City of Melbourne, children, families and educators and researchers in the Melbourne Graduate School of Education and Victoria University.
