Melbourne Social Equity Institute Community Engagement Grants 2020

Applications for Community Engagement Grants closed on 23 October 2020. A total of eleven projects received funding.

The details below are for information purposes only.

The Melbourne Social Equity Institute supports collaborative research between academics, members of community organisations, policymakers and people with lived experiences which helps build fairer societies.

For its Community Engagement Grants, the Institute invites proposals for activities to support a University of Melbourne researcher with an idea to test, explore and develop in partnership with members of disadvantaged or marginalised communities.

The funding will enable the researcher to develop interdisciplinary and community-engaged networks within and external to the University. The scheme aims to support research ideas that may lead to a proposal for future rounds of the Institute’s Seed Funding Program or the Community Fellows Program.

The Community Engagement Grants are designed to build a researcher’s / research team’s ability to engage with community issues at a grassroots level. Grants of up to $3000 are available.

Please note: each application must nominate a Coordinating Investigator. The Coordinating Investigator must hold a PhD and be an academic employed at the University of Melbourne on a permanent or fixed-term basis with a contract until at least July 2021. Those holding other academic appointments at the University of Melbourne are encouraged to apply in other research roles as part of interdisciplinary teams.
