Not just work: Ending the exploitation of refugee and migrant workers

The WEstjustice Employment Law Project seeks to improve employment outcomes for newly arrived and refugee communities in Melbourne’s Western suburbs.  Building on a period of research and consultation, the Project has delivered two pilot programs over the past two years: an employment law service (providing legal advice, referral and representation) and a community legal education program (for community members, community workers and a train the trainer program for community leaders).  

Key findings from the Project were documented in a recent report, Not Just Work.  Catherine Hemingway is Senior Employment Project Solicitor at WEstjustice Community Legal Centre, a Melbourne Social Equity Institute Community Fellow and author of the report.  Come along to hear Catherine talk about the Project and report’s key findings and recommendations.
